FRIENDS Of Suburban Bristol Railways (FOSBR) welcome the joint statement by the four local authorities on investment on rail. (Be certain rail improvements are on our agenda, Evening Post March 19). However 'the package of improvements' in the West of England Partnership Board's letter are road based. And as Evening Post columnist David Woods often reminds readers, roads are not the answer.
We want the Partnership to implement their rail policy. A 30 minute train service to every station in the West of England Partnership area is enshrined in the 2006/7 - 2010/11 Joint Local Transport Plan. We are delighted that hiring more trains and creating four tracks to Filton Bank is in last week's letter. What is lacking is not money, but the political will to ensure that this engineering is implemented this year.See the full content of this document
