Bristol Rovers 1 Southampton 5 PAUL Trollope says bolstering Bristol Rovers' strikeforce will be a priority over the summer after he watched former Gas hero Rickie Lambert come back to haunt his old club. The player Southampton signed for Pounds 1 million at the start of the season netted twice as Alan Pardew's side romped to a 5- 1 win at the Memorial Stadium - effectively ending any remaining hopes of a play-off challenge by Rovers. And Trollope admitted the club's inability to replace the Scouse hit-man, who has now scored 34 goals this term, has hampered the Pirates' hopes of success.

"It's been a frustration since January," said Trollope. "We had a strategy to try and replace him straight away, but the timing of his departure meant we couldn't do that. "Our frustrations have been well-documented and although we identified a number of strikers, there were a variety of reasons why they didn't join. "We have been short in the striking department - although even after this result we're not that far off the play-offs. "But our play has suffered in certain aspects since Rickie's departure, because the link and the platform he gives any team will benefit them.
