Welsh National Opera's La Traviata: Hippodrome ALEXANDRE Dumas' story of the doomed courtesan Violetta has served as the basis of a successful novel, film scripts and stage plays but none of them has brought out the wonderful romance and powerful dramatic impact of the tale better than Verdi's opera.
With one of this composer's finest scores, singers and orchestra have every chance to blend music and drama. Led by director David McVicar and conductor Andrea Licata, the mix was extremely good, despite some of the acting not always being fully convincing.See the full content of this document
