DEVELOPERS will soon be invited to come up with plans to regenerate 25 acres of land in Bedminster. The swathe of land set to be transformed includes the site of recently-demolished coun-cil- owned flats, housing associ-ation flats, open space and the former Marksbury Road College site.
The three joint owners of the land have already held early talks with big-name housebuilders about how they would develop the site. But the door has also been left open to smaller firms to suggest less conventional approaches to regenerating the land. Anthony Negus, city councillor in charge of regeneration, said the development was "not a case of hitting housebuilding targets". He said: "It's about regeneration and trying to turn Bristol South into a place where it's got all the components necessary to make it a sustainable community. "We've managed to keep most of the local people with us and have been opening the door for what's happening elsewhere in Bristol South."See the full content of this document
