Talking Cameras to Tackle Street Crime

Summary


Talking cameras are being tested on the streets of Bristol to enable CCTV operators to intervene in incidents as they happen.

A disembodied voice telling offenders to stop what they are doing could become a familiar city centre experience if a trial in five locations is a success. They are: College Green, Corn Street, outside the old Bridewell police station opposite Syndicate nightclub, outside the Hippodrome and at the end of Baldwin Street near the taxi rank.
