BY early 1968, following a letter to the Times newspaper the previous autumn, people were becoming aware that the pioneering steamship, the Great Britain, was slowly rotting away in the Falkland Islands.
In desperation Bristol's newly-formed Brunel Society was asking the Commissioner for Wrecks to lay claim to the ship before a museum in San Francisco got there first.See the full content of this document
