Star-Studded Cast ; Letters Colston Hall

Summary

MY wife Pat and I have delved into the memory bank re the Colston Hall and the Hippodrome in the 1950s. Yes, Johnnie Ray did play the Hall, as did the original Platters, Buddy Holly, Ella Fitzgerald supported by Oscar Peterson (Jazz at the Met), Ted Heath, Eric Delaney, Geraldo and many others.

Notables at the Hippodrome in the classic Music Hall Days were Billy Ecksteine, Al Martino, Tommy Steele, Cliff Richard, the Folies Bergeres, the Crazy Gang, Harpo Marx, Chico Marx, the Doyley Carte Opera Co, the Carl Rosa Opera Co., Rawicz and Lanauer, Anne Ziegler and Webster Booth, and the best of them all Frank Sinatra (a balcony seat cost 2/6d).
