A SKILLS and training council for the construction industry has warned of a retirement timebomb unless more young people replace those coming to the end of their careers.. The number of youngsters aged 16-19 working in construction has more than halved in three years, according to research by CITB-ConstructionSkills.

It said it was now facing a situation where around one in six workers was due to retire within ten years and there were not enough people to replace them.
