IN response to Gary Vowles and Glen Cash's letters about the Pope's visit and Sherrie Eugene Hart's role at the service in Hyde Park (Evening Post, September 17), come on guys we're talking about a West Country jewel who has as far as I can remember shone nothing but positive light to the folks of our region with her endless charity work.

I too am a Catholic who has been very disillusioned with the abuse scandals that have hit the church and many other factors too. However, I think that these letters simplify the issue because wherever there are young people or children sadly there are abusers - not just in the Catholic church but in every church or organisation that deals with children.
