I want to vote in the council elections on May 5, 2011 but am not sure if I am on the Electoral Register - how can I find out? Also, if I'm not registered, do I need to register before a certain date to ensure that I can vote? To vote in any election you must be on the Electoral Register. If you filled in ts he registration form delivered to your household last summer, you should already be on the Electoral Register. You can check by contacting your Local Authority.
If you are not on the register you can register at any time by visiting your local electoral registration office and filling in the relevant form. Alternatively you could download a form from the website www.aboutmyvote.co.uk and post it to your local electoral registration office.See the full content of this document
