IT was with a keen sense of pride I watched on TV as David Cameron made his closing speech to the Conservative conference. After 13 years of listening to Labour rhetoric, we finally heard some common sense home truths from the new coalition Prime Minister. His eloquent words actually make the Big Society idea seem suddenly obtainable, despite the undoubted divisions that exist in our complex communities today.
There have always been enthusiastic volunteers to run charities and local groups like Scouts and Guides. Now the PM wants this idea taken further so people of all ages can get out of their armchairs (health permitting) and join together to enable us to be Great Britain as we once were. If this is done it clearly means our national debt will decrease much faster which is so vital for our fragile economy.See the full content of this document
