As more snow and ice returns, I wonder if there's anything positive to be said about the effects of the freeze on the vegetable garden? Well, it's often recognised that some root crops will taste a lot sweeter if they are harvested after a spell of really cold weather, so if you managed to take advantage of the short thaw last week, and get out harvesting veg, then your parsnips should taste absolutely wonderful!

But it's another root crop that I've been thinking about this week, one that also plays a part in any mid-winter feasting, and that's horseradish.
