IWRITE in response to the 'Beach Pebble Pinchers Face Prosecution' story in the Evening Post on Thursday, April 1. What? You mean this wasn't the April Fool? How many pebbles must there be on all the beaches in the world? How can a few people helping themselves make that much difference? After all, it's not like it's something that the whole of the human race are up to and besides, who in their right mind wants to sit on a beach of pebbles anyway? I have countless uncomfortable memories of being a child on Brighton beach. Give me Blackpool beach any day of the week.
I can also recall, when I was a schoolchild, being actively encouraged by a teacher before breaking up for the summer holiday, that should any of us be fortunate enough to encounter a beach holiday to find as nice a large flat pebble as possible and to take it home and decorate (paint) it for use as a free and personalised paperweight.See the full content of this document
