Welsh National Opera's The Magic Flute: Hippodrome BRISTOL opera fans just love this quirky 2005 production of Mozart's last opera, and last night there was not a seat to be had, and a queue for returns.

It was written at the saddest time in the composer's life, and yet is full of fun, wisdom and joy, as he guides his hero along the journey from superstition to enlightenment, which was the theme of this week's trio of German operas.
