RE Cycling on the pavement (Evening Post 20 May 2011). I fear that the confidence of 'Fed up reader, Horfield', in the police may be misplaced.
Recently there was an incident in Cotham Hill, and two police were standing around, doing nothing, waiting for it to clear. Down one of the narrowest pavements in the area sped a lady on a bicycle. As she was about to pass them I remarked to the policewoman 'There's something that you can do. You can fine her'. All I got was a haughty silence. I remarked sarcastically as I stomped off 'So sorry I had always thought the police existed to uphold the law'. But it is obvious that a democratically elected parliament legislate, and an undemocratic police force suit their own convenience on which of those laws they choose to enforce.See the full content of this document
