Lee Fit to Lead Europe Charge

Westwood is Europe's most highly-ranked player. Second at the Masters in April, he was runner-up again at The Open at St Andrews in July.

He made his Ryder Cup debut at Valderrama, Spain, in 1997, and is the most battle-hardened Ryder Cup player on Montgomerie's team.

Although the ardent Nottingham Forest fan has been out of action since the Bridgestone Invitational in Akron six weeks ago, he managed some practice at a pro-am event in Scotland last week.

Better still, at least from a European point of view, is Westwood's suggestion that he could even return from his break a better player.
