A BRISTOL grandmother believed to be one of Britain's oldest loan sharks has walked free from court despite adding massive interest rates to cash handouts.
Pensioner Joan Fionda, known as "Joan the Loan", worked as an agent for catalogue companies Kays and Great Universal in Horfield, Bristol Crown Court heard. But in a lucrative sideline the 78-year- old provided thousands of pounds in loans to vulnerable people, charging huge interest rates.
