Horse trader James Gray, who was jailed for "grotesque" neglect of horses last week was allowed back to his family-run farm on Tuesday after serving just four days of a six-month sentence.

Gray was imprisoned last Friday for leaving horses, ponies and donkeys to die of starvation in a "horror scene" described by vets as the "the worst case of animal cruelty" they had ever seen.
