JOHN Tanner makes two claims in his letter supporting incinerators ("Most efficient waste option overlooked", Open Lines, June 30).
His first is confused and his second is questionable. It is not true that "energy from waste" was labelled "incineration" by opponents to discredit it. It was exactly the other way around. Because ordinary people became increasingly hostile to incinerators and their health effects, developers began to disguise them as "energy from waste".See the full content of this document
