THE UK's embattled high street last month suffered the biggest fall in shopper numbers since last December's freezing weather.

Footfall dropped 4.7 per cent in October as a "toxic mix" of soaring fuel bills squeezed consumers' income levels and the eurozone debt crisis sapped confidence, according to the British Retail Consortium.
