The programme for the concert in Bristol Cathedral at 7.30pm on Thursday, August 18, looks to be tailor-made for such a venue. The Bristol Cathedral Players, under the direction of John Davenport, will open the evening with Beethoven's majestic Egmont Overture. Part of ten incidental pieces written for Goethe's play of the same nameduring the Napoleonic Wars, it really does live up to its powerful and expressive billing.
