Summary


Damien Rice has never been the most career-minded of musicians but his determination to play by his own rules hasn't done the Irish singer-songwriter any harm, as he arrives in Bristol to headline the Carling Academy on Wednesday night.

Damien's willfulness can be traced right back to his early days as a musician. He was in a band called Juniper who were beginning to achieve some modest success in Ireland. Major record labels came knocking, but they wanted to make some changes to the band's sound to make them more commercial. Unimpressed, Damien quit just before they were due to record their debut album.
