FISH? Aquarium?... Sound exciting? No. It didn't to me either, so when I was offered the chance of going to Bristol's Blue Reef Aquarium I turned it down immediately.

Then it occurred to me, I know, I'll go and do what I do best and write a critical piece on it. So I put my sceptical head on, strolled in the front door and instantly I was won over when I saw signs for the IMAX, and memories of childhood trips there. So thanks to that nostalgia I forgot all about my cynical vendetta and ambled into the Aquarium. Almost straight away I was astounded by the prominent sunken ship design; which sets the scene for the rest of the tour, and the various activities along the way ensuring your trip is worth your money. Not only is the layout impressive though, the sheer variety of marine life goes well beyond what I'd expected: one minute I was staring at a group of piranhas, next I was face to face with an octopus that captivated me for a good 10 minutes at least. I'd go on but I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, so if you're sceptical like me, bring your family, bring your friends and make a day out of a trip to the Blue Reef Aquarium - you won't be disappointed.
