The responsibility for looking after 31,000 elderly residents passed to another company who struggled to pay the rents to the new landlords. You may ask what this has to do with schools. Once upon a time, Bristol's schools belonged to their communities and were named after the districts they served. Schools like Portway, St George and Speedwell were easy to locate on a map. Now, if someone mentions Oasis Brightstowe or Metropolitan Academy, people puzzle over their location and the change of name.
