EACH week in Crackerjack, our food writer Mark Taylor gives his lowdown on restaurants in and around Bristol. Here's what he said about The Picture House in July 2008: "The menu offers plenty of choice, with nine starters and nine main courses, and there are some very enticing dishes on there - 'London Particular' (an old- fashioned pea and ham soup) and rare roast Lackham Farm beef on hot dripping toast with parsley and caper salad, creamed horseradish and sea salt among them.

"Fish and chips salad sounded intriguing and it exceeded all expectations. Three large goujons of really fresh bream had been coated in a light, well seasoned beer batter and deep-fried.
