DJ Roni Size declined to give evidence from the witness stand to defend the allegation that he threw his girlfriend down the stairs of his home and shattered her heel.
The Mercury Music Prize winner - real name Ryan Williams - chose not to answer questions in front of the jury on the fourth day of his trial at Bristol Crown Court. The 41-year-old is accused of dragging Jane Andrews, his partner of one year, by her hair, armpits and head before pushing her down the stairs at his home in St Andrew's. Drum and bass musician Size denies causing her grievous bodily harm, maintaining both he and Mrs Andrews fell down the stairs after she had tried to push past him on July 11 last year. In his closing speech yesterday, Andrew Langdon, defending Size, said they both fell after Size had tried to stop a drunken Mrs Andrews getting into his bedroom.
