LAST night at the Colston Hall, for over three hours I forgot all about the dire state of the economy, the onset of winter, demonstrated by the gallons of rain falling from the dark cloud laden sky as I sat back in my seat in the gallery and allowed the folksy home-spun charm of Irish singer Daniel O'Donnell to chase the blues away. His guest singer Mary Duff has a lovely voice too.

After nearly 30 years of entertaining his many adoring fans, he is as fresh and ever green as his native Ireland. He can bring tears to the eyes with a simple ballad and have the audience in fits of laughter with a corny joke.
