Summary
Robert Paterson's latest diatribe (Stroud Life letters, April 1) against me is baseless as it is clueless. Since the problems developed with both Delphi and Renishaw I have been in daily contact with those companies. Just because I've not written about this doesn't mean I'm not fully engaged in helping them over their difficulties.
What we've put together is a package that will help over the period of short-time working and redundancies. The only sticking point is getting wage compensation. What's galling about Mr Paterson is that if he chooses to write to me, as he has done on other issues, I'll tell him what I'm doing. Instead he makes snide comments which says an awful lot about his attitude to the situation: indifference and hot air. Perhaps he should put up or shut up?See the full content of this document
