IN 1828 William West, a Bristol artist, rented an old, burnt-out windmill (now the Observatory) as a studio.
Below it, but with no access, was a cave, once used, it's said, as an early Christian chapel. That aside, pottery from the Roman era has been discovered here.See the full content of this document
