Arrogant Approach From Stadium Bid ; Letters | Emails | Opinion Comment Special On the Row Over Bristol City's Plans for a New Stadium

Summary

WITH regard to Mr Lansdown's comments on the declaration of the Town Green at Ashton Vale; he says he has spent a lot of money on the site; bought the land in good faith but if it loses its value then it will be tantamount as theft.

I would refer him to the financial warnings in his company's brochure and I quote "the value of investments can go down as well as up". He cannot expect to speculatively buy up large swathes of green belt land for his vanity project of a new stadium and expect no opposition. I also query the Evening Post's comment writer who says the majority of people in South Bristol are in favour of the new stadium at Ashton Vale. How does he know that? Has there been a referendum? It is imperative to appreciate that development in this area of South Bristol is restricted because of the massive transport issues with little access to motorways, rail links and th s e bottleneck of the River Avon crossings.
