Marshman Sees Off the Challenge of Crease ; Motocross

WESSEX Centre trial champion Gary Marshman got off to a good start in the new title series by winning the opening round staged by the Kingswood club at Bury Hill, Yate, on Sunday. In three laps of a dozen sections at the Yate Rocks group, he lost just four marks - one in the second section on a complicated climb over mud, cambers and rock steps and three more in the seventh on similar going.

Panthers Lack Real Bite Against Oasis ; Netball

Oasis 47 Panthers 38 THIS top-of-the-table clash saw both teams demonstrate only flashes of the skill that took them to the summit. Oasis took an early lead which they did not relinquish, and eventually ran out easy winners against Panthers. The contest at the top of Division VI is fierce as each of the top-three teams has conceded just one defeat. Panthers defeat was at the hands of Brislington, whereas Oasis were beaten by Panthers at their last encounter.

BRISTOL TV presenter Sherrie Eugene-Hart delighted diners with an amusing yet informative account of her rise to fame at 2012's fourth Gabblers Club dinner. Last night's event saw the club's second round of this season's after dinner speaking competition at the Bristol Hotel.
