Several Schools Closed Due to Burst Pipes
DISRUPTION has continued in a number of South Gloucestershire schools as a result of more flooding and broken heating systems. A further two schools were affected yesterday, with Blackhorse Primary School in Downend closed completely due to the heating not working.
Calls for a U-Turn On Closure of High Street ; Police Asked to Patrol Roadworks to Keep Peace
TOWN leaders have asked for police officers to be based in the town centre to ensure Portishead High Street can remain open during a month-long programme of roadworks. Portishead councillor David Pasley has written to town police sergeant Jim Robinson asking him to put police community support officers on dedicated patrol in the High Street this month so it can stay open while Pounds 200,000 of improvements are carried out.

THE caring ethos of a new St George primary school has been praised by education inspectors. A team of inspectors from Ofsted visited Air Balloon Hill Primary School, in Hillside Road, giving it a rating of satisfactory.
Inquest Held Into Woman's Sudden Death
AN 87-YEAR-OLD woman who acted as a carer for her husband and whom doctors believed was in general good health, suddenly collapsed and died in her bathroom, an inquest heard. Maxine James, a retired council worker who lived in Ferndown Close, King's Weston, was found dead by her husband on October 30.
Delight As Watchdog Impressed by Nursery
A KNOWLE nursery, which has been running for more than 30 years, is celebrating after receiving praise from education watchdogs. Busy Bee Day Nursery, in Wells Road, was given a good rating by Ofsted inspectors who visited the setting.
