Banksy Souvenir

Guerrilla Warfare? ; While Thousands Have Queued Up to Revere 100 Pieces of Banksy's Art, Someone has Been Carrying Out Messy Reprisals Against the Artist's Existing Work Throughout the City, As David Clensy Reports

BRISTOL may have gained 100 extra Banksys for three months through the summer, but the sad fact is that as a result of the show we have ended up with fewer permanent intact Banksys than we started with back in June. Anybody could have predicted that some elements in the reactionary street art community, from which Banksy hails, would react badly to the idea of the covert artist finally making it to the relative conformity of an art gallery-based retrospective exhibition.

Standing in Line... Rain or Shine ; for All the Remarkable Exhibits in Banksy's Summer Show, the Lasting Image for Most People Will Be the Sight of a Six-Hour Queue, Winding Its Way Up Park Row. David Clensy Talks to the Woman Charged with Managing the Onslaught of Visitors the Queues

YOU might call it the 101st exhibit at the Banksy exhibition - the great snaking queue that's shuffled down through Bristol's West End over the last three months. They say that if British people see a queue, they feel compelled to join it, and the constant growth of the Banksy queue throughout the summer has proved this point once and for all.

Totting Up the Bank$Y Effect ; the Effect It has Been Estimated That the Banksy Show has Injected Pounds 10 Million Into the City's Economy at the Height of the Recession. David Clensy Takes a Look at Why Bristol Should Be Saying a Big Thank-You to the Artist Who Was Once Seen As a Graffiti Vandal

IT may never be possible to account for the full cultural impact that the Banksy exhibition has had on the city - will it reinvigorate the artistic community? Will it become a catalyst to inspire the next generation of Banksys? The truth is, nobody really knows. These are the sorts of questions that might only be answered retrospectively - 20 or 30 years down the line.

It Appeared Out of Nowhere ... ; the Start Banksy Brought His Biggest Ever Uk Show Into the City, with Hardly Anyone Knowing About It. David Clensy Looks at How It Was Done.

THE world of Banksy thrives on secrecy and subterfuge. The anonymous artist put together one of the biggest art shows the city has ever seen, right under our noses, with hardly anyone knowing it was happening. Here at the Evening Post, we were let into the secret on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in June, days before the show was to be unveiled to the world, when we had a hush-hush visit from two of Banksy's PR people.

Who Else Could Have Filled the City Museum?

APPARENTLY, I am a hypocrite. I am also irresponsible .... and I'm a liar.

So Which Was Your Favourite? ; We Asked Some of the Museum's Visitors What Their Favourite Piece of Artwork Was at the Show the Vote

THEY have drawn visitors to Bristol from across the world, now we want to know which of the piece in the Banksy v Bristol Museum exhibition was your favourite. We have selected a shortlist of 18 of the most striking pieces, and now turn it over to the Evening Post readers to vote for the one which caught their attention.

'Eyes of the World' On Banksy's Bristol ; People Travelled From Across the World to Visit the Banksy Exhibition in Bristol. David Clensy Takes a Look at the Visitors Books to Find Out Just How Far People Would Go to See the Show the Visitors

IF you think standing in a queue for six hours is asking a lot - no matter how impressive the Banksy exhibition at Bristol Museum has been - spare a thought for those people who travelled around the world to take their place at the back of the line. In a back room of the museum, high up above the bustling exhibits, publicity officer Claire Royall opens a cupboard and lifts out a dozen leather-bound visitors' books - a permanent record of the extraordinary story of the summer.

Banksy Boost for Oxfam Worth More Than Pounds 20k

A CLIFTON charity shop has made more than Pounds 20,000 from selling Banksy postcards, stickers and books. The Oxfam store on Queen's Road had an anonymous donation of artwork by the secretive graffiti artist, as the exhibition of his work drew crowds at Bristol Museum.

Cleaning Up Behind Closed Doors Now Show Is Over

ALMOST as swiftly as it arrived, the Banksy versus Bristol Museum exhibition has disappeared from the city. De-rigging began at 5pm on Bank Holiday Monday - at the very moment the last visitor left the museum.
