Get Yourself in a Jam or a Pickle

Pickling, jam and wine making - and freezing - are popular methods of dealing with a glut, but there's a less well known way to preserve many crops, and that's to dry them. Many kinds of fruit can be dried, including apples, pears, plums and berries, and, of course, tomatoes. As for vegetables, mushrooms and onions can be dried, as well as peppers and chillies.

Coulson Is the Top Rod

DISABLED member Tom Coulson came up with a 43-0-0 victory in the South West Disabled & Over-55s match, fished on Match Pool at Acorn Carp Lakes, Kingston Seymour. He fished a straight lead with bread into the middle of the top bowl from end peg 12 for skimmers, perch and carp weighing in the 3- 5lb bracket.

Friendly Rivalry has Been Key to Norton's Fine Start
